Howden Park Centre
Designed for: Howden Park Centre
A fantastic chance to be involved in the interior for the new Howden Park Centre which opened in spring 2009. We designed ‘Sunken’ a descending seating area, as well as ‘Creel’ a range of 4 seating ‘mounds’ for the space to be inhabited by the West Lothian Youth Theatre. This is their own space and the sunken area is somewhere to relax and talk or even perform for each other slightly hidden from the rest of the foyer spaces. The ‘Creel’ Mounds on the other hand inhabit a more public area and can be moved around easily to suit different social gatherings or performance situations… and to act as seating or as props.
The Creel mounds were made for us by Simon from Silo Design, who carefully brazed every wire junction to create a spider web of steel topped off with fine leather pads. Strong, light, elegant and durable… and even nesting!
